Industrial environment
Work at height has a high percentage of accidents: the classic example is that of construction sites, but roofing of buildings and other production spaces, such as warehouses, silos or tanks which must be accessed by stairs and walkways and maintenance works and any interior or exterior work environment or work area that foresees a possible risk of falling from a height.
A similar situation is also found in all the internal environments that delimit production areas, where special machinery, systems and walkways are used.
In this type of works and spaces, the "fall from above" represents the first risk of injury and death, even if it is not the only one. But what exactly is meant by "fall from above"? The Consolidated Law on health and safety at work (Legislative Decree 81/2008) identifies it in art. 107 in the context of a “work activity that exposes the worker to the risk of falling from a height placed at a height of more than 2 meters with respect to a stable floor”, thus outlining a definition that can be applied to a wide variety of cases. All the more reason, therefore, it is important to prevent and secure all areas at risk, also bearing in mind that the responsibility rests with the employer as well as the owner of the property.
